Thoughts on Easter.

Easter is THE most important celebration for Christ-followers. All that we believe and the way that we live derive their worth from what Jesus did and the fact that he is alive.

This is my favorite weekend of the year. It’s exciting. But it’s also very solemn. I don’t get emotional over a lot of things, but I’m always a little emotional on Good Friday. The magnitude of what my Savior did still astounds me, and I pray that as I get older that sense of awe never goes away.

I sometimes feel a little ashamed, as well. Easter weekend is special, and I love that we take a few days to really focus on what Jesus did. But, the value of what he did is just as great on the other 362 days of the year. More often than not, I fail to carry this sense of awe and gratefulness on those days. I pray that won’t be the case for the rest of this year.

I don’t have a cute little anecdote, or 3 bullet points for you to take a way today. Today is not about what I can offer you. It’s about what Jesus freely gave you and me:

  • A connection with the God of the universe
  • Grace, REAL and FREE
  • Freedom from living for ourselves and something HUGE to give our lives to
  • An incredible friend and God who we can know more intimately each day

Today is about Him. And I am so grateful.
